This piece is a 3D rendered environment depicting a small cavern scene featuring an abandoned wooden crate and a trio of handcrafted pottery vessels. The scene combines procedural modelling and texturing techniques with advanced lighting and emissive effects to create a mysterious and immersive atmosphere. For the World Building Project @ Uni
The pottery was created procedurally, with unique shapes and surface details generated to mimic hand-crafted clay objects. Each vessel exhibits subtle variations in form and texture, emphasizing the organic qualities of ceramic work.
Lighting plays a central role in this composition: the cavern walls are illuminated by glowing crystals, rendered with emissive materials in Unreal Engine 5 to create a vivid blue light that contrasts with the warm tones of the sandy ground and wooden crate. The emissive textures enhance the visual focus and depth, casting subtle reflections and highlights across the surrounding surfaces.
The environment was designed and modelled in Blender, with attention to realistic surface detail, including the sand’s granular texture and the weathered wood of the crate. The assets were then imported into Unreal Engine 5, where materials, particle effects, and emissive lighting were refined to maximize the sense of depth and atmosphere.
This work showcases the integration of procedural modelling, texture creation, and real-time lighting in Unreal Engine, highlighting the interplay between organic forms and dynamic environmental effects.
